Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members
With the rise in COVID-19 in our state and community, several school districts have moved to virtual learning. However, at this time, East Poinsett County School District does not plan to move to virtual instruction.
While our numbers of positive cases for the district and the state are on the rise, most of our positive cases have resulted from community spread during the holidays. Currently, we are able to provide supervision that allows us to provide for the academic needs and the safety of our students at the current positive and quarantine rates.
A decision to move to remote learning will only be
made IF absences among our teachers and staff compromise the education and/or safety and supervision of students. We are closely tracking the situation as each campus has different staffing needs. If there is a need for closure, we will give our school community as much notice as possible.
Our goal is to keep our schools open, and students are learning in person as long as we can safely do so. We appreciate your patience as we work to make the best decisions for our students and staff.
Thank you for your support!

Affordable Broadband Internet Access
The State of Arkansas is looking at using portions of the State’s American Rescue Plan Act funds specifically for expanding broadband. A couple of months ago, the Arkansas Department of Commerce entered into a contract with Broadband Development Group to develop a statewide broadband master plan to ensure that all residents, regardless of their location, have affordable broadband Internet access. This project is the ARBroadbandNowProject.
A meeting with the ARBroadbandNowProject has scheduled a town-hall meeting for Lepanto on Thursday, January 20th, 2022 starting at 6:00 Pm. The meeting will be held at the East Poinsett County Cafeteria.
A meeting with the ARBroadbandNowProject has scheduled a town-hall meeting for Tyronza on Tuesday, January 25th, 2022 starting at 6:30 Pm. The meeting will be held at the Tyronza Senior Center.
In addition to the meeting, there is a survey they are asking everyone to fill out. You can find the survey by clicking the following link:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JFSRYZH We are sending paper copies home with elementary students. Please call 870-475-2472 if you need to request a paper copy.
We would like to encourage all who can attend your town meeting to do so and please complete the survey to help our communities have affordable broadband Internet access.
Sincerely,
